Tessa Gillispie, LMFT

Hey there!

My name is Tessa and I am a licensed marriage and family therapist who loves working with teens, young adults, and women. I see clients in person in Fresno, CA, and offer telehealth throughout California.

My Story

I was born and raised in Fresno, CA, and now live with my husband, two boys, and two giant dogs. My genuine curiosity about the world and people led me to become a therapist. I've always been fascinated by the complexity and beauty in our differences. This curiosity shapes how I show up in the therapy room—I truly want to hear your story, understand you, and help you understand yourself.

I believe that knowing ourselves better and allowing another person to truly see and know some of our deepest parts, especially those we usually hide, is crucial to the healing process. Witnessing this process play out over and over again has been a privilege and constantly fuels my passion for this deeply personal work. I'm continually impressed by my clients' bravery to show up so raw and real in our shared space.

How I Show Up

I show up as myself in the room. What does this mean? My reactions will be genuine. I will laugh with you and cry with you, while simultaneously holding a safe and sacred environment for you to show up as your whole self. With that being said, this does not mean I will be sharing details about my life. Therapy is about you and your process, therefore it is important that the focus remain on you and not me. Have a few questions for me? I'll likely answer! But I won't shift the focus onto myself in a setting designed for you.

I firmly believe that our sessions are yours, and I do my best to allow each client to create an experience that meets their very personal needs. My hope is that after some time and trust has been built, you will feel the freedom to walk into this environment—your environment—as your full self: unfiltered, raw, and ready to continue uncovering all that exists within.

I truly believe the therapeutic relationship is the most important part of the work, so having a genuine connection with my clients is a priority. If you're searching for a therapist who is real, offers a compassionate and safe space to work through your hardest moments, celebrates your wins, and shares in your laughter, I could be a great fit for you.
